Hi, I’m Dave Salahi and I’m a photographer, videographer, & video editor in Southern California. This website, The Photo Performance, is not just about printing as the Ansel Adams quotation might imply. In the 21st century we have many more ways to share photos than we did just 10 or 20 years ago. These include websites, smartphones, tablets, TVs, and digital photo frames as well as a cornucopia of printers and media.
Starting from a background in still photography I’ve journeyed into the world of video which brings with it a whole new set of tools and experiences. Adding the dimensions of time and sound enriches and deepens the creative challenge. With those additional dimensions I’m using more of the Adobe Creative Cloud than ever before. In addition to Photoshop and Dreamweaver my task bar now includes shortcuts for Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder. And besides the software tools there’s a new set of gear, including microphones and & recorders, video monitors, stabilizers, sliders and the list goes on.
There’s a lot to learn in all of that, of course, and that’s one of the things I love about the video experience—the ongoing opportunities for learning. And, with the internet we have more opportunities to learn than ever before. One of my favorite ways of learning about a variety of subjects is with the online videos at lynda.com. I’ve had an annual subscription to the site for years.
And, through this blog, I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others. So, please take a look around and hopefully you’ll find something useful. Please let me know your thoughts by commenting on a post or emailing me on my Contact page. And if you find something useful here please share it to your favorite social media channel.
